12th Week

On TJ to approve the data migration story we need to migrate al the products of the current site to the new database that we are going to use and show that we can migrate all of them. So we spend this week doing those migrations, actually we migrate products, formats, images, countries, users, order history. Also we made a good demo, the story was approved for the next story that is customer data we are just missing to run the scripts with all the customers because we run one with the ones that they asked for demo, and to fix the authentication topic, that now we have an idea that was accepted so let’s get it started.

On the other hand on the second project we are going really good, for this week we have a nice amount of things to do on the project tracker tool where are the bugs and stories that we need to implement, and we get almost all done, and at the end of the week to receive an email that says “Wow, thanks! You all got a lot done.”, it’s a great motivation.

11th Week

This week on TJ project I made a ruby program to generate the script to migrate the record crate of the users. So for the first day we map the tables of the current db into the one that we are going to use, and the next two weeks we spent them trying to change the authentication system that uses spree right now and quit the problem that we already have, unfortunately we did not have success.

On the second project I was fixing bugs, there was a big lit of bugs but we made it. Most of them are because there are missing validations

Also I continue reading the RoR tutorial… Now I understand things that at the beginning seems to be magic.

10th Week

As part of this week I worked the building of a parser to migrate images and finish the products migration that was asked to show in the demo. So as part of this week we also upload the app to the server. After finishing the scripts to migrate products, just started a new story users migration. With that we found out that we were in trouble with password topic, so that starts making us think about what can we do about it.

On the other hand working in the second project is great, I understand better the structure of the project and it is easier to locate the place where you need to fix something.

Finally I took time to continue with the apprenticeship program and, keep going with it, reading and making a tuto or RoR.

9th Week

I continued working into data migration , we made another demo, the client was satisfied with that, just asked about if we can add a new field that was not in the original database.

But we need to prepare better the demos, take time to practice them and show them in a better way. Also work into the other project I add a timer to a message bar, also fix a bug related to date/times on tickets, and almost finish the story related with emails that tell to the administrator of the app why people are failing when they try to add a payment gateway and are filling the billing form.

I think that now we are working faster.
